Steeped in the Aroma

Seasoned visual artist Michael Pastorizo is committed to further transforming his acclaimed craft. Throughout his career, he creates harmonious ceremonies of colors that bloom an energetic aura – a saturated haze that radiates all over the space it occupies. For his latest exhibit, the artist adds a new element to his flourishing collection.

Centered in his works is an oeuvre of blossoming symphonies, translating a sense of scent into adroit visualizations. It’s as if Pastorizo garnered the ability to translate aromas with colors, a unique ability that only artisans such as himself can conceptualize. We see his expertise in blending tone, hue, light and shadow, emanating an effervescent glow that exceeds the two-dimensional plane, optimally brightening the space it surrounds. By marrying concepts of sight and scent, Pastorizo interacts with the viewers, allowing such to bask in the kaleidoscopic reflections that are enhanced by human perception.

At its core, Pastorizo will always be passionate in discovering the countless potential of his opus. “Steeped in the Aroma” is yet another perfect representation that the artist masterfully blends diverse influences into a harmonious symphony of creativity, leaving a lasting impression that will be referenced by abstractionists in the near future.

Michael Pastorizo took up Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) in college. His career later on, however, took on a rather different path, fated or not. In 2000, he started to work for an artist as a canvas maker. He later on worked for different artists over the next 15 years. Through his stint with artists over the years, he learned several art techniques and styles. He learned how to use oil and acrylic for paintings, silkscreen printing, making sculptures, molding and casting, among others. He then started to work on abstract paintings and later on honed his unique techniques.

The artist since then has received awards and recognitions for his body of work, being featured yearly in numerous solo and group exhibitions, art talks, and coffee table books.

“Steeped in the Aroma” by Michael Pastorizo will be on view at Galerie Raphael U.P. Town Center from September 17 – 28, 2023 with an Artist Reception on September 22, Friday at 5 PM.
